Have You Seen This LT Alumnus On TV, Interviewing the President?
Phil LeBeau is the Chicago-based CNBC auto and airline industry reporter who got his start at Lyons Township High School's radio station, WLTL.
Back in the early 1980s, I worked at WLTL 88.1 FM, the Lyons Township High School radio station run by students. Phil LeBeau was on the news staff and was always very serious about the news. That’s saying something for someone who is a sophomore in high school. So, it doesn’t come as a surprise to me that I turned on the TV and saw him reporting on CNBC. LeBeau is the CNBC auto and airline industry reporter based out of the Chicago bureau. I had a chance to talk to LeBeau recently and learned about his journey from the La Grange radio station to working in Chicago for one of the major national networks, where his achievenments include interviewing President Barack Obama one-on-one. I might be wrong but I think I remember Phil, who was going to be the next student general manager, chasing Laurie, the outgoing general manager, all around Spring Rock Park until he graced her face with a whipped cream pie. I have been to a lot of these picnics so I may have the wrong people but I don't think so. DJ Strecker   more ›
