La Grange’s Corner Shop has a new look, a new business model, new merchandise and even a new smell. Corner Shop just completed a two-week renovation and has reopened with a different approach, selling exclusively donated items, including used books and furniture—hence the new wood smell. “I think that, especially in this economy, it functions better for customers,” said manager Lisa Carullo. “It makes better business sense for us: We can raise more money for Community Nurse, [and] our prices are lower.” Along with sister store the Carousel Shop, two doors down on Calendar Court, the Corner Shop is a fundraising outlet for the nearby Community Nurse Health Center which provides medical services for people with limited resources. The list is in! The Community Nurse Health Center has announced their line up of celebrity bartenders for this year's Rocktoberfest at Gordon Park in La Grange on Sept. 15. See our article on all the events at Rocktoberfest here. Will TMZ be there? Probably not, but I will as Patch's official celebrity reporter. I'll covering the event and putting a best and worst dressed list together. Just kidding, but maybe that's not a bad idea. These local luminaries will be competing for the coveted title of Celebrity Bartender of the Year. To win that title, they'll have to raise the most tips (for charity). Tips can be donated to the bartender of your choice online at the official Rocktoberfest website: www.therocktoberfest.com. Take a look at the …
