30 point scoring outburst books Lyons’ spot
in holiday tournament championship
Lyons Township's Nick Zeisloft came into Wednesday's Jack Tosh Holiday Classic semifinal matchup against Brother Rice holding a late Christmas present for the Crusaders. As the game unwrapped, that present turned out to be a 30 point scoring explosion, leading the Lions to a comfortable 86-62 victory over Rice to send them into the tournament finals, set for Thursday at 7:15 p.m at York High School. Despite a massive individual performance, Zeisloft attributed Lyons' impressive tournament run to the group's collective effort. 7-1 LTHS boys basketball continues win streak with non-conference victory at Downers Grove South
Lyons Township's senior sharpshooter Nick Zeisloft turned 18 years old on Saturday. After trailing by as much as 12 points in the first half, the Lions battled back to narrowly overcome non-conference powerhouse Downers Grove South away from home. The win brings the La Grange side's record to 7-1 (2-0) going into the Christmas break. "They shot very well in the first quarter, and we knew they weren't going to keep shooting that well all night," Zeisloft—who …

Lions’ 60-37 rout of 0-2 Queen of Peace
First year Lyons Township head Coach Katie Meyers began her coaching career with a comfortable win Friday evening as Lyons overcame Queen of Peace, 60-37, in the LT Invitational Tournament. "We feel good, it's definitely a step in the right direction," Meyers said. "But, we weren't capitalizing on a lot of our positives. We have a lot to work on, but the girls should be proud of tonight." Despite the lopsided final scoreline—which earned the Lions victory in their 2010 season opener—the game was mistake-ridden from both sides, especially early on. "In the beginning of the game, I think we were very sloppy because of first game nerves," Lyons senior guard Lindsay Esposito said. "We have a lot to improve on and we know what we have to do to…
