Escape to an earlier era—before TV, Twitter and tablet technology.
You're in luck. Saturday is the third Saturday of the month, and the Theatre Historical Society, 152 N. York St., Elmhurst, will be open from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. This is your opportunity to escape to the time when movie houses were a haven from everyday life, opulent in design, comfort and size. And the price is right: free. The headquarters of the Theatre Historical Society of America is hidden above the York Theater. As a 1,000-member national nonprofit dedicated to the history of theater buildings, this organization was founded in 1969 by the late theater historian Ben Hall, author of the first book celebrating America's movie palaces, The Best Remaining Seats. The headquarters also includes an archive of documents that attracts …

He will perform at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the McAninch Arts Center Theatre 2. Cabaret table seating adds to the atmosphere. Cabaret ticket prices are tickets $40/38/30. Escape to the wacky world of Monty Python at Drury Lane.
Escape from mom’s land of car pools, laundry and school lunches to a world of dancing divas and knights, flatulent Frenchmen and killer rabbits. Where can you find this world? At Drury Lane Oakbrook Terrace through March 6, where Monty Python’s Spamalot is being performed. What better way to escape from everything than with the humor of the legendary British comedy troupe Monty Python. Spamalot is a musical version of the movie, Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Drury Lane offers a dinner theater package that includes a three-course menu. If that is not for you, you can …

Great Escape, debuting today, will give you ideas of how to spend time on yourself—not the kids or your long to-do list. Look for Great Escape every Wednesday afternoon and think of it as an alternative to running away with the circus.
Are your ears still disturbed by the sound of Christina Aguilera's, shall we say, overzealous rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner?" Mothers—and fathers—can just be themselves for a while this weekend and have the sounds of the DuPage Symphony Orchestra (DSO) wash over them in one of two concerts. And, for a short while, you can leave the kids and their iPods home. The DSO will celebrate the music of Sergei Prokofiev, featuring excerpts from his ballet, "Romeo and Juliet," followed by “Kije’s Wedding” and the “Troika” from "Lt. Kije" at 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Wentz Concert Hall on the campus of North Central College, 171 E Chicago Ave, Naperville. The second half of the program will feature the score from Sergei …
