The new dance troupe at the Village staple dance studio will present a one-night concert and auction at LTHS South.
The Footwork Dance Ensemble, a newly-formed group out of Jo’s Footwork Studio in the Western Springs Recreation Center, will present their first public performance on Saturday, Feb. 18 at Lyons Township High School South Campus as part of a benefit for both the ensemble themselves and HIV/AIDS charities Dance For Life Fund and The Children’s Place Association of Chicago. Entitled “Winter Interlude,” the performance will feature five different short dance pieces in the styles of jazz, tap, modern, ballet and hip-hop, interspersed with performances by professionals “Scuba” Steve Gorski and Andrea Parson (both also guest choreographers) and dance troupe Matrix. Jo's Footwork Studio showcases the talents of its dance students.
"Five, six, seven, eight." Any dancer who hears this countdown knows it's time to get into position and perform. Students of Jo's Footwork Studio are doing just that in recitals, which are the culmination of nine months of hard work. Footwork Follies 2011 is showcasing the talents of the dance studio's students. The final performances will be given at 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. today, Saturday, at Glenbard East High School, 1014 S. Main St., Lombard. "It's an opportunity in a theater to show off what they've learned," said Patty DeWitt, a backstage volunteer.
