Kevin Comstock and Timothy Andries were sworn into the La Grange Police Department at the village's regular board meeting on Monday evening.
The village of La Grange welcomed two new police officers to the department with a swearing-in ceremony at Village Hall on Monday night. Kevin Comstock and Tim Andries took the oath of office led by Village Clerk Thomas Morsch before residents and the officers' family prior to the board of trustees regular meeting. Comstock graduated from the Illinois State Police Academy on Aug. 30 and has already begun his field training with the La Grange Police Department. Comstock lives with his family in Indian Head Park and is a 2005 graduate of Lyons Township High School. Following high school, Comstock enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. La Grange police announced today that they have charged Adam P. Potesak and Brent C. Carlson in connection with recent bike thefts.
The La Grange Police Department announced this morning that it has arrested and charged two individuals in connection with recent bike thefts in the village. Police charged Brent C. Carlson, 34, of the 600 block of north Park Avenue in La Grange Park, with residential burglary and possession of burglary tools. Also charged is Adam P. Potesak, 27, of the 3400 block of Cuyler Avenue in Berwyn, with one count of felony theft and criminal damage to property. Carlson and Potesak were arrested in unrelated incidents. According to police, Carlson was seen on Aug. 6 at Stone Avenue Station looking at bicycles. Police surveillance of Carlson led them to the 500 block of south Park Avenue where police said he removed a bicycle from an open garage. …

Rocio Ochoa, 44, pleaded guilty on July 13 and was sentenced to 7 years in prison for tying up and beating an 11-year-old girl in La Grange last year.
A case that distressed many La Grange residents last year has finally reached something of a conclusion. Rocio Ochoa, 44, of La Grange, pleaded guilty on July 13 to felony aggravated domestic battery and unlawful restraint. She was sentenced to seven years in prison and fined $659, according to Tandra Simontom, a spokeswoman for the Cook County States Attorney's office. The judge also extended an order of protection for the girls for two years following Ochoa's release from prison, according to media reports. The case caught reader's hearts last year after an 11-year-old girl walked into the La Grange Police Station at 11:45 p.m., and told police she had escaped from her home on the 100 block of Hillgrove Avenue. Tate H. Madler was arrested on Tuesday at his home in Western Springs for being a sexual predator in a public park after a resident called in a report to police about a man loitering at Sedgwick Park.
Following up on resident's report of a man loitering at Sedgwick Park in La Grange, police arrested Tate H. Madler, 42, on July 5 at his home, 4042 Lawn Ave. in Western Springs, according to a press release from the La Grange Police Department. Madler's arrest came after an investigation concluded that he had been observed loitering in the park on several occasions. Madler is a registered sexual predator which prohibits him from being in a public park. Police said there was no indication that Madler attempted to approach any children or adults in the park. A search of Illinois Sex Offender Information database showed that Malder was arrested previously and charged with two counts of child pornography involving a 16-year-old victim when he…

Police were called for an incident at Lyons Township High School on Wednesday.
Police were called to Lyons Township High School's North Campus on Wednesday, according to Jennifer Bialobok, a spokeswoman for LTHS. Police were called after a female student became "physically aggressive" in the assistant principal's office. The student was later taken into police custody. really sucks that people out there stealing bikes...my buddy and i had our bikes stolen and so i recently got a new se road bike from http://2wheelbikes.com/ and also got a much better lock. but its a disaster when this happens. good thing these guys got caught tho.   more ›
