The following was submitted by the La Grange Police Department: On Tuesday, May 14, 2013, and Tuesday, May 21, 2013, officers from several agencies along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, including officers from the LaGrange Police Department, will participate in the educational and enforcement campaign called “Police on Board for Rail Safety.” The reality is that every day, people risk their lives to “beat the train” even though the signals and gates warn them to stop. Our participation in this campaign is done as a reminder that waiting one minute for a train to pass is not too great of an inconvenience to save your life. Updated: 11:14 a.m. April 5 Brookfield Police have spoken with the man who boarded the bus Tuesday while students were on their way to Lyons Township High School's North Campus. The man is a 36-year-old La Grange resident who is the father of an LT student, said Lt. Ed Petrak via email. The man's child rides a different bus to school than the one he boarded. Officers from local departments will be conducting training exercises at the Lyons Township High School North Campus.
No need to be alarmed this week if you see the parking lot at Lyons Township High School North Campus crawling with squad cars. The La Grange Police Department is hosting officers from throughout the area for three days of training sessions at the school during students’ spring break, according to a school release. Although officers will not be using live ammunition during the training, some exercises could involve starter pistols, so prepare yourself to hear a pop or two. The following was submitted by the La Grange Police Department: The La Grange Police Department will serve as a regional drop off facility to collect unwanted, unused and expired prescription drugs on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This effort is part of a larger effort sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Click here for more details about the National “Take-Back” initiative. The public may bring accumulated, unwanted, expired, and unused prescription drugs for safe destruction to the La Grange Police Department located at 304 W. Burlington Avenue. John Savage, a Cicero police officer, failed to tell a man that he had HIV before they engaged in sexual activity, the Cook County Sheriff said.
A Cicero police officer was charged Thursday with criminally transmitting HIV to a man he went to the movies with in July 2012, the Cook County Sheriff said. John Savage, 38, of La Grange Park, engaged in sexual activities with a 24-year-old man at Savage’s home after their date, according to the sheriff’s release. He failed to tell the man he was HIV positive before the encounter, the sheriff said. The victim later asked if Savage was HIV positive, and when Savage said yes, the man reported the incident to La Grange police. Savage was arrested Wednesday at the La Grange Park Police Department and charged with one count of criminally transmitting HIV after La Grange Police conducted an investigation in conjunction with the sheriff’s office…
