LT's Lions Den: A Rich, Spirited History

A student group goes above and beyond to show support for their school's teams.

Last year, I was able to attend almost all the Lyons Township High School home basketball games. I was blown away the first game by the support and school spirit shown by the students. An entire section of bleachers was designated for students to cheer for LT. I have since learned that this is a group of students called the Lions Den. I talked to Jason Brauer, the adviser for the group, to get a little of its history. “Back in 2007, a group of students approached me about sponsoring a student section like one from the past called 'Gold Rush' for basketball games," Brauer told me. Brauer helped the students by ordering about 100 T-shirts for the kids to wear at the games. In 2008, some seniors stepped up and asked to keep Gold Rush going. “…
