Detectives believe that the 23-year-old woman was murdered by her estranged husband and another man in Countryside; her body was later found in Robbins.
Two men are being held without bond in connection with the slaying of a 23-year-old Cicero woman who who was strangled, suffocated and left inside of a truck of a car in the summer of 2005, the Cook County Sheriff's Office announced on Saturday. The body of Nayely Murry was found in the trunk of a Dodge Intrepid in Robbins two days after Nayely’s family reported her missing in August 2005. Detectives believed she was killed in Countryside before her body was placed in the trunk and left in Robbins. A national gun-control organization plans to sue a website that advertises firearms, including the .40-caliber Smith & Wesson used in the murder of a woman in Oak Brook in 2011, The Doings Western Springs reports. According to the paper, the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence is preparing a lawsuit against armslist.com on behalf of the family of Jitka Vesel, saying that the website facilitates illegal gun sales. Vesel was killed on April 13, 2011; her former boyfriend Dmitry Smimov is serving a life sentence for the killing, the paper said. “It makes me angry that some murderous guy could go buy a gun on the Internet,” Vesel's brother Alex Vasely told the paper. John L. Wilson, Jr., the man charged with the brutal murder of 14-year-old Lyons Township freshman Kelli O'Laughlin, is scheduled to appear in court next month for a status hearing. The case against the Chicago man, who had been out on parole at the time he burglarized the teen's Indian Head Park home, has progressed slowly. A Grand Jury handed down an indictment of Carl Spoeri on two counts of first-degree murder on Friday.
A Grand Jury at Cook County's Maybrook Courthouse in Maywood, handed down an indictment for two counts of first-degree murder against Carl Spoeri, 55, of La Grange Park at a hearing on Sept. 15. Spoeri was arrested on Aug. 20 after beating Bojan Zigic unconscious in front of Spoeri's home on the 200 block of Kings Court. He was charged on Aug. 23 with first-degree murder after Zigic was taken off life support at Loyola University Medical Center and died. Spoeri was the stepfather of Zigic's fiancé, Erica Spoeri, who also had a 3-month-old child together. Carl M. Spoeri, 55, of La Grange Park, stood in bond court this morning in a red shirt and track pants, showing no emotion as the state's attorney read the charges against him. Spoeri was charged with first-degree murder in the death of his stepdaughter's boyfriend, Bojan Zigic, 26, of Brookfield, who police said died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday from injuries sustained during a fight between the two men Monday evening in La Grange Park. Attempts were made to examine John L. Wilson on April 17 and 20, both unsuccessful. Exam administers asked for an extension to try again, which Associate Judge John J. Hynes has granted.
