Davanti Enoteca Restaurant Coming to Downtown Western Springs

Replacing 800 West, the location will be the fifth nationwide for a wine bar franchise launched in 2010 in Chicago's Little Italy neighborhood.

The 800 Hillgrove Ave. restaurant suite in Western Springs will welcome its third new restaurant since 2008 in late March when Italian restaurant and wine bar Davanti Enoteca plans to open its fifth franchise at the site. Though fate has been unkind to 800 Hillgrove’s last two dining occupants —neither 800 West nor La Dolce Vita saw a third year—Davanti Enoteca opens with formidable momentum. It went from being a newcomer in Chicago’s Little Italy in 2010 to having locations in San Diego, Scottsdale and Del Mar by the end of 2012. “We knew the concept was a good concept,” said managing partner Chris Elsey of Davanti, who has worked with executive chef Scott Harris for two and a half decades. “Incredible vision and attention to detail with …

Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis Spotted at Prasino

E! News snagged a photo of the Hollywood celebrity couple grabbing brunch at the La Grange restaurant.

La Grange, you just got Punk'd! ... well, a visit from famed Punk'd prankster and Two and a Half Men actor Ashton Kutcher, along with girlfriend and Black Swan and Ted star Mila Kunis, anyway. E! News reports that the couple were photographed enjoying brunch at La Grange's Prasino restaurant, being flirty and generally having a nice date out in the suburbs. The couple has been staying in the Chicago area and the Midwest over the holiday season, according to the website. Prasino was also recently featured on the local show Check, Please! Check out the photo and read the full story at E! News.

Fireside: La Grange's Newest Pizza Joint Opens Today

Fireside, La Grange's new brick oven pizza joint, opens on Harris Avenue today.

If you're looking to put the flame back in your relationship, you might want to try doing it with a wood burning brick oven this Valentine's Day. They do say after all, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Just in time for Valentine's Day, is the opening of Fireside Wood Fired Pizza & Cafe, located at 18 W. Harris Ave. in downtown La Grange. Fireside officially opens for business today, and they're expecting a big turnout. The restaurant is a fast casual concept, which means there's a table if you want to bring the family in for dinner, but there's no server. It also means you wont have to wait long for your food. Fireside can cook up a pizza in two minutes in their 700-degree oven, imported from Italy.  Fireside specializes in…

La Grange Restaurants Serve Up Preview of Restaurant Week

A preview event for Restaurant Week shows the delicious diversity of offerings in La Grange.

In the back room of Bella Bacinos in La Grange on Tuesday night, local officials and business leaders gathered to dine and discuss the hotly anticipated first La Grange Restaurant Week to be held in February. On hand were chefs and representatives of 12 La Grange restaurants, showing off their stuff with bite sized examples of the wide range of dishes produced in the downtown restaurant community. "This event will officially put La Grange on the marquee as a culinary destination," said Linda Bacin, owner of Bella Bacinos. Bacin is a central figure in the creation of Restaurant Week, and said she felt moved to bring all the usually competitive restaurants in the area together to work together on problems that face all of them. First and …

The Weekend: Check out Wild Monk

Patch checks out La Grange's newest restaurant and bar, Wild Monk.

La Grange is a restaurant town, not a bar town. Yes, some of our restaurants have bars—Palmer Place and Nickson's are great examples—but overall the focus is on food, not drinks. That's not necessarily the case with La Grange's newest eating and drinking establishment, Wild Monk, located at 88 S. La Grange Rd. This is La Grange's first gastropub. It's not that Wild Monk doesn't focus on food—they do. But I'll put it this way: The list of food items is two short pages and the drink list is four pages! That's not the only reason Wild Monk feels a bit more like a bar than a restaurant—the bar itself is a main attraction. It's long, dark and lined with bottles of beer and booze. It commands attention as you walk through Wild Monk's beautiful …
