Winter Storm Bringing 7-10 Inches of Snow, Nazareth Closed Tuesday

We've got another round of snowy winter weather bearing down Monday and Tuesday. Track the storm with this interactive map.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning through midnight Tuesday for a storm that could dump between 7 and 10 inches on the Chicago area. Light snow is supposed to begin late Monday and gradually increase in intensity through Tuesday morning, at times falling at a rate of 1-2 inches per hour. Some areas could see snow totals higher than the predicted amounts. Travel will be "extremely dangerous" throughout the duration of the storm, the National Weather Service warns. The storm will affect both the morning and afternoon commute. As far as school closings, Nazareth Academy alerted parents Monday night that school is canceled for Tuesday. Patch Classic: Remembering Snowmaggedon 2011

On the one-year anniversary of the crushing snowstorm that dumped two feet of snow on Western Springs, knocked out power and cleared out schools, we revisit a photo gallery from the day after.

Exactly one year ago today, Feb. 2, Western Springs (and all of Chicagoland) saw one of the worst (or best, depending on your scale) blizzards in history. Two feet of snow and 50 mph winds gave kids not one but two snow days, and we were out there to capture in. The above photos and following article first ran (as "Photo Gallery: Snow Fun (or No Fun?) on Feb. 3, 2011: Wednesday was a great day to be a Western Springs kid. School was out, and the village was packed with natural, sculpt-able jungle gyms of piled snow. Unfortunately, it was up to the adults to keep those piles of snow off of driveways and out of the streets! Still, it looks to us like everyone managed to enjoy themselves at least a little bit, even while clearing out the snow…
