Western Springs Fire Dept. to Make Temporary Move

Fire department operations will move to fire station #2 for three weeks starting Monday.

Due to parking lot construction work set to begin Monday at the Western Springs Fire Department headquarters at 4353 Wolf Road, operations will temporarily move to station #2 at 5501 Grand Ave., for three weeks. The move is necessary because the planned construction limits emergency apparatus access and response, according to the Village of Western Springs. The delivery of emergency services will continue as usual with the only noticeable difference being that the headquarters station will be unoccupied during that time period. For questions, e-mail Chief Patrick Kenny at pkenny@wsprings.com or call (708) 246-1800 ext. 171.

Police Union May Sue Village Over New Position

The union representing the Western Springs Police Department feels an action being considered by the village would be unfair to current patrol officers.

The Metropollitan Alliance of Police, which represents the Western Springs Police Department is debating whether to take legal action against the village if it passes a budget amendment that would establish a fifth sergeant position and current patrol officers are not considered for it, reported The Doings Western Springs. Passage of the amendment would mean current Deputy Chief Brian Budds would assume a dual role as patrol officer and sergeant with no additional pay, according to the article. The union told The Doings it feels such action would set a dangerous precedent that smacks of favoritism and is unfair to officers with more experience.

What is that wierd white "swoosh" supposed to represent? It looks very odd. First off all, the Tower is hovering above the disconnected street scene below it, then that swoosh appears out of nowhere like Tinkerbell's trail. Agree with the above posters: WHAT is going on with the water plant? How about an update from the Village! Disgraceful. Spend the $30,000 on speeding up the construction of …   more ›
