Purse Stolen from Garage, Downtown DUI: Western Springs Police Blotter

Western Springs police reports, Dec. 10-17.

MONDAY, DEC. 17 Someone reportedly entered an unlocked vehicle parked in a garage on the 4800 block of Woodland Avenue sometime between 9:00 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 a.m. Monday and stole a purse containing documents, credit cards and other items. The estimated value of the stolen goods was $30. SUNDAY, DEC. 16 Marvin Romero, 37, of the 1000 block of Keeler Avenue, Chicago, was stopped at 8:50 a.m. on the 5700 block of Wolf Road for having a suspended registration and only one headlight, police said. Storm Grate Theft, $550 in Gift Cards Stolen: Western Springs Police Blotter

Western Springs police reports, Dec. 3-10.

SATURDAY, DEC. 8 Someone reportedly entered an unlocked car on a driveway on the 4700 block of Central Avenue and stole several gift cards valued at a total of $550. The burglary occurred sometime between Friday, Nov. 30 and this Saturday. Someone removed and stole a storm sewer grate located at the corner of Oak Street and Hampton Avenue. The theft was reported at 9:42 a.m. The time of theft and replacement value have not been estimated. MONDAY, DEC. 3 Arturo Garcia-Gutierrez, 33, of the 2200 block of North Lawler Avenue, Chicago, was stopped at the corner of 47th Street and Johnson Avenue at 7:21 p.m. because police said he was driving with only one headlight. Duncan, 28, of the 3200 block of 187th Street, Lansing, was stopped for displaying an expired registration sticker at the corner of Wolf and Plainfield roads (La Grange Highlands) at 9:08 p.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license. Rogelio Abarca-Alvino, 38, of the 3000 block of South Lawndale Avenue, Chicago, was stopped for speeding at the corner of Ellington and Ogden avenues and charged with driving without a valid driver's license. SUNDAY, NOV. 25 Maria Del-Rosario Martinez, 31, of the 9100 block of Lincoln Court, Orland Park, was stopped at the corner of Ogden and Lawn avenues at 3:57 a.m. for making an improper U-turn, police said. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after failing field sobriety tests, police said. MONDAY, NOV. 19 Someone intentionally damaged a newly poured slab of concrete in the lower level of Spring Rock Park on Friday sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The damage was estimated at $300. SUNDAY, NOV. 18 Someone stole several holiday light decorations from the front yard of a home on the 4000 block of Rose Avenue sometime between 7:00 p.m. on Friday and 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. The value of the theft was not reported. SATURDAY, NOV. 17 Timothy M. Taylor, 18, of the 1400 block of 52nd Place, La Grange, was arrested at the Western Springs Police Department at 11:45 a.m., police said. SUNDAY, NOV. 4 Someond defaced exterior stone pillars and a portable toilet located outside a newly-constructed private home with spray paint on the 4200 block of Linden Avenue. The incident ocurred sometime between Saturday and Sunday. The cost of the damage was $300. A 17-year-old La Grange boy was accosted by an officer on the 300 block of 53rd Street at 1:24 a.m. after a suspicious-person call and charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor, police said. FRIDAY, OCT. 19 A 13-year-old Hodgkins boy was issued a local ordinance citation for possession of cannabis after police said they found him at 8:48 p.m. with the drug during an outdoor athletic event at Lyons Township High School's South Campus.  THURSDAY, OCT. 18 Lashon Y. Balogun, 42, of the 1800 block of S.
