SUNDAY, JULY 29 An unknown offender damaged several landscaping solar lights in a residential yard on the 4800 block of Central Avenue at around 11 p.m. Saturday. The incident was reported at 9:07 a.m. Sunday. The damage was estimated at $25. Police charged a 19-year-old Western Springs woman with consumption of alcohol by a minor after officers said they found her intoxicated on the 4600 block of Wolf Road at 5:32 a.m. A 17-year-old Western Springs boy was issued two local ordinance citations for theft and consumption of alcohol by a minor at 1:35 a.m. after police stopped him on the 4700 block of Lawn Avenue and confirmed that he had been drinking and had stolen the skateboard from a front porch. THURSDAY, JULY 5 An unknown driver hit a village stop sign at the corner of 49th Street and Lawn Avenue with a car at approximately 11:55 p.m. and fled the scene. An estimated value of the damage was not given. WEDNESDAY, JULY 4 Someone used an “illegal firework device” to “intentionally destroy” a portable bathroom at a residential construction site on the 4000 block of Lawn Avenue around 10:45 p.m.; there were no direct witnesses to the explosion. No one was hurt and no other items were damaged. An attempt to raid a park concession stand and a stolen ladder wind up last week's police blotter.
Friday, May 11 — Damage to a concession stand door on the lower level of Spring Rock Park in the 1300 block of Burlington Avenue was reported to police at 5:09 p.m. Reports estimate the incident happened sometime between Thursday and Friday. Saturday, May 12 — An unattended 16-foot fiberglass ladder was reported missing from a private rear residential yard in the 5300 block of Grand Avenue. The report estimates the theft happened sometime between 3:30 p.m. on Friday and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. I don't recall the drinking age in IL ever being 18...when was that? I went to college in the early 70's. One of the reasons WI was so popular as an out of state destination was that the drinking age there was 18.   more ›
