Western Springs police stopped a home burglary in progress Friday afternoon when they apprehended a 15-year-old Melrose Park teen at the scene of the incident. The teen had kicked in a rear basement door of an unoccupied home in the 1400 block of 39th Street before police responded to the burglary, according to the report. After 30 minutes, officers convinced the teen to leave the house and took him into custody. Investigators found items that they said the teen intended to steal scattered inside the home. La Grange Park police report that they have arrested two man involved in a burglary on the 1400 block of Scotdale Road in La Grange Park on Thursday afternoon. Fernando Gonzales, 30, homeless, and Felipe Martinez, 21, of the 2600 block of S. Komensky Avenue, Chicago, were each charged with a Class 1 felony for residential burglary. Police had responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle around 1:00 p.m. According to La Grange Park police, the men were located sitting in a van on the 1600 block of La Grange Road with burglary tools and items from the burglarized house on Scotdale, where a rear door had been pried open.
