ReplyThank you DG Guy. The electorate is crisis weary. A cool, calm, reasonable explanation based on facts is very welcome.

On the article Sunday Comic: Obama Has Perfect Record on Asteroids

ReplyThe point of the Constitution was to create a perfect union, to keep us on track and to keep us free. It wasn't perfect and has been amended 27 times. Today, instead of going through the amendment process which is quite rigorous, we allow our elected politicians to do whatever they please. We are bombarded with unconstitutional laws and regulations to the point, only a few are challenged. The power has shifted from the people to the politicians, unions and banks who constantly protect each other. Our system of checks and balances is failing. As long as we choose to defend deeply flawed red and blue instead of a marginally flawed Constitution, we will be divided. While we blog our hearts out to defend our point of view, our duly elected are fundamentally changing our country and destroying our way of life. We have been distracted and fighting among ourselves instead of uniting on things that will make America strong and free. Just because your representative is red or blue or friendly or has name recognition or knows how to deal...that is no reason to vote for him/her. Really get to know the people that you vote for, not who they tell you they are. What is their history, their character, their record, their true vision? It is not easy to find the truth but it is our duty. The unflattering cartoon above is just that, an unflattering cartoon that will rally some and anger others thus diminishing the real message that America is in serious fiscal trouble.

ReplyDo we have to choose between coddling and tough love? How about being flexible and open to the notion that each child and each moment is different. How about blending safety and opportunity. How about being the best role model you can be.

I think that this thread is proof enough that Illinois GOP is still not ready to become united as one party no matter who the leader is. We will keep on being "small" and "petty" until we no longer exist. Putting our hopes in any one person is pie-in-the- sky. The Party is "us" and we are too invested in our own egos to ever envision a united front against those who will bankrupt the state of Illinois through big government and unsustainable promises.
