Could Katy Perry Be Coming to LTHS?

Lyons Township students are putting together a lip-dub video for Good Morning America's "Roar With Katy Perry" contest.

Katy Perry performing at Lyons Township?

Students at the high school are hoping that fantasy becomes a reality as they plan a lip-dub video they'll shoot later this month and submit to Good Morning America's "Roar With Katy Perry" contest.

According to the rules of the contest, which is open to schools across the country, videos entered must be two minutes long and feature a lip-dub performance of Perry's song Roar.

Brendan Weibel, student representative to the Lyons Township School District 204 Board of Education, told board members about the school entering  the contest at Monday night's meeting, as well as what exactly a lip-dub video is.

"The song’s going on in the background and we’re going to have people lip-syncing and walking through the halls, trying to show all that LT has to offer," Weibel said.

The GMA rules read, "Submissions may also include dancing or other types of performance. All participants in the video must be affiliated with your school and may include students, teachers and administrators."

The LT lip-dub video will be produced on Saturday, Sept. 28, beginning at 9 a.m. It needs to be submitted to GMA by Oct. 1, and the winning school's concert will take place on or around Oct. 25.

The Perry concert will be broadcast on GMA.
