Teen Driver Spins Out Truck in Western Springs Accident

SATURDAY, OCT. 19

Improper Backing


Police said a 71-year-old Olympia Fields woman was cited for improper backing in the 4700 block of Central Avenue after she hit a 1968 Ford Mustang parked on Central while backing out of a driveway at 4:36 p.m.

Both cars were damaged, but no injuries were reported. 

FRIDAY, OCT. 18

Truck Spinout


A 16-year-old male juvenile from Western Springs driving a 2007 Chevy Silverado southbound on Hampton Avenue at 10:20 p.m. lost control of the truck and spun it 180 degrees while turning left onto eastbound Hillgrove Avenue, police said. 

A nearby water-main break had left more than 5 inches of water in the roadway, causing the one-car accident. The Silverado was damaged, but no injuries were reported. 

THURSDAY, OCT. 17

Failure to Yield


A 22-year-old Western Springs woman was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident in the 3900 block of northbound Wolf Road, police said, after rear-ending a 2012 Buick Enclave that had stopped for a red light. 

No injuries were reported, but both vehicles were damaged. 

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 16

Failure to Reduce Speed


Police said an 85-year-old Western Springs woman was cited for failure to yield at a stop-sign intersection of 47th Street and Howard Avenue after she turned left from northbound Howard to westbound 47th and struck a 2004 For Taurus traveling through the intersection eastbound on 47th.

No injuries were reported, but both vehicles were damaged.

Improper Backing


A 44-year-old Berwyn woman was cited for improper backing in the Lyons Township south campus parking lot at 3:19 p.m., police said, after she backed her 2009 Chevy HHR out of a parking spot and into the front bumper of a 2002 Chevy Cavalier traveling down the parking aisle.

Both vehicles were damaged, but no injuries were reported.

TUESDAY, OCT. 15

3-Car Accident Reported


A 66-year-old Brookfield man was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident on eastbound Ogden Avenue at Woodland Avenue at 6:11 p.m., police said, after rear-ending with his 2007 Honda Element a 2006 Saturn Vue, which in turn rear-ended a 2005 Pontiac Vibe.

The Vue and Vibe had stopped behind another vehicle that was letting a cyclist cross Ogden. All three cars were damaged, and the driver of the Vue suffered a minor injury.
