Western Springs Man Charged With Heroin Possession

Oak Park police charge Western Springs man who had 87 bags of heroin on him Monday night.

A 28-year-old Western Springs man was found with 35 grams of heroin and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia around 8:45 p.m. Monday, June 3 in Oak Park. 

An officer approached Justin Dougherty, 28, of the 3900 block of Rose Street in Western Springs, to find out why he had been coming out of random garages in an alley in the 500 block of South Humphrey Avenue police said. Dougherty ran from police after the officer saw several bags of heroin in his wallet and told him he was under arrest, police said. 

He was caught in the 100 block of South Austin Avenue, charged and held for bond hearings. Police said he had a total of 87 bags containing 35.1 grams of the drug.
