Water Softening Equipment Offline Until Next Week

An error in Well #4 caused the discharge line to close and create a deadhead in the pipe. Technicians will be on-site to determine why the error occurred and to repair the village equipment early next week.

An incident Wednesday afternoon in the reverse osmosis plant in Western Springs will cause water softening equipment to be offline until early next week, according to a July 31 notice from the Village of Western Springs

During a cleaning cycle, the Well #4 booster pump displayed an error, and the booster pump was correctly shut down to examine the issue, according to the village.

"Somehow, this caused one of the valves on the Well #4 discharge line to close and create a deadhead in the pipe which resulted in the blowout of a section of pipe in the basement of the RO plant."
