Jesus Has Left the Building...and We're Going with Him

The Presbyterian Church of Western Springs is hosting an all-ages mission and service day on Sunday, July 14. Jesus Has Left the Building…and you are invited to go with Him!

Last summer, the Presbyterian Church of Western Springs hosted a series of service days called Jesus Has Left the Building.  These days offered people of all ages the opportunity to do mission and service work to support people in need, both locally and globally.  We had such a positive response to this series that it is back for Sunday, July 14.

Please join us on July 14 for a brief worship service at 9:30am.  After the abbreviated service, you will have the chance to participate in one or more service activities.  We have projects for all ages, interests and activity levels.  Here are some of the projects we’ll be working on this Sunday:

  • Fleece Blankets for Project Linus:  Turn a piece of fleece into a blanket to comfort a hospitalized child
  • Prayer Boxes for the BEDS PLUS clients
  • Create bracelets for our youth to share on their Mission trip to the Appalachian Service Project
  • Assemble Hygiene Kits for Church World Service:  These kits help people globally during a time of need recovering from natural disasters
  • Cook a meal for Constance Morris House:  Bring your culinary talents to help us provide a nourishing meal for women and children recovering from domestic violence
  • Our musical friends will travel to a local nursing home to share hymns and songs of the season
  • Come to our Writing Room to write letters to our sister congregation in Cuba and special greeting cards to the children of Amka Africa.

There are projects for all skill levels, all ages and a variety of time commitments.  Only have a few minutes after worship?  There are still some meaningful projects in which you can participate.  It was great to see so many adults and children working together last year in our Jesus Has Left the Building Series and we hope to have a robust group this Sunday, July 14.  Please join us!
